Geora Minassian was born in 1926, in the North Caucasus, in the city of Grozny. He is one of the founders of the "Sasuntsi Davit" gymnastics union in Tabriz, where in 1945 he founded and conducted the "Melik Tangian" mixed choir of eighty people. In parallel, he established and conducted a youth choir, which operated for about 15 years. At the same time, he estblished a pop orchestra, for which he writed many compositions. In 1960 by the invitation of the Abadan church-school trusteeship, he left for Abadan, where he conducted the "Gusan" choir of the community and, simultaneously, the Abadan church choir. In 1975 moved to Tehran, where he assumed the position of deputy superintendent of the "Kushesh Davtean" school and lead a number of school choirs. In 1980 geora Minassian established the "Urartu" choir of the Chaharmahali Study Union consisting of one hundred and forty people, which is still operating today. In 1988 by the invitation of the Union of Composers of Armenia, he visited the Motherland and was warmly welcomed by the Union and its president, Edward Mirzoyan. Geora Minassian was awarded the "Mesrop Mashtots" medal by Catholicos Garegin I and was awarded during the celebration of the 2500th anniversary of the coronation of Iran.
